How to use the Plyo Box
Plyo boxes can be found on the Matrix area in your local SWEAT! Gym. You may well have used them in a Matrix class or with your PT.
As the name suggests, ‘plyo’ boxes are used to support plyometric training. Plyometric training consists of quick, explosive movements designed to increase speed and power. This type of training doesn’t just benefit athletes in terms of increasing speed and power. For us ‘average’ humans, it can help to reduce injury by increasing the strength of tendons. It can increase your performance in other sports or simply in every day movement by boosting the efficiency of your neuromuscular system- in at nutshell, this is the speed at which the signals from your brain are transmitted to your muscles.
Try this simple circuit on its own, or incorporated into a longer workout:
After your warm up, set the plyo box/es up on the Matrix area- pick a height that is comfortable. As you build your confidence up in using the boxes you can increase the height to one that is more challenging.
Using a 4 minute rolling clock, complete as many rounds as possible (AMRAP) of the below exercises. Want to go again? Rest for 1 minute then repeat!
